December 8, 2025

Winston-Salem, N.C. — Spilman Thomas & Battle (Spilman) announced that partner Steven C. Hemric was named to the Triad Business Journal’s “40 Under 40” list.

“40 Under 40” honorees are chosen through an independent editorial review, with selections based entirely on their merits, achievements, and contributions to their organizations and local community. Review panels include Triad Business Journal editorial staff and leadership, with editorial leadership having final approval for all awards and honorees. Hemric’s selection to the list is a testament to his exceptional leadership, consistent professional excellence, and meaningful impact on both his firm and the broader community he serves.

Hemric practices in North Carolina, South Carolina, and Virginia with a focus on advising construction industry clients across all project stages, from bidding and contract negotiation through resolution of jobsite disputes and litigation. He also advises a variety of business clients from startups to Fortune-recognized businesses on supply chain, insurance coverage, and general transactional- and litigation-related issues that affect their businesses. He is a prolific author and presenter on construction law matters and on issues affecting minority- and woman-owned businesses in the construction industry, including Spilman’s construction law e-newsletter, The Site Report.

Hemric is listed on the North Carolina Super Lawyers "Rising Stars" list and the Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch list for Construction Law and Litigation - Construction. He earned both his undergraduate and law degrees from Wake Forest University.
