Pittsburgh — Spilman Thomas & Battle (Spilman) announced that Brendan B. Counihan has joined the law firm as Counsel, bolstering the firm’s corporate and tax practices and expanding the depth of service available to clients in the Pittsburgh region and beyond.

Counihan brings extensive experience assisting clients with federal and state tax structuring, planning, and compliance. He also guides businesses through complex corporate reorganizations and advises on a broad spectrum of commercial transactions, including mergers, acquisitions, joint ventures, and licensing arrangements. In addition, he provides strategic guidance on corporate governance and board actions.

Prior to joining Spilman, Counihan practiced with internationally recognized firms, including Paul Hastings and Freshfields. The experience gained in these roles enables him to deliver practical, business-minded solutions tailored to the unique challenges faced by Spilman’s clients.

Counihan earned his undergraduate degree from Vassar College and his law degree from University of Pennsylvania Law School. He is admitted to practice law in Pennsylvania, the District of Columbia, and New York.
