Mr. Atkinson's primary area of practice is litigation focusing on toxic tort and environmental litigation, as well as complex, multi-party commercial and product liability litigation. He serves as a lead member of Spilman's litigation strike force, The Battle Group, litigating high-stakes, document-intensive litigation.

  • Serving as lead counsel in class action product liability, including multi-district litigation
  • Litigating complex environmental and toxic tort lawsuits involving exposure to various chemicals and contaminants
  • Litigating multi-party lawsuits involving drilling, hydraulic fracturing ("fracking"), procurement of energy and extraction of natural resources and environmental contamination
  • Representing businesses in litigation involving exposure to naturally occurring radioactive materials ("NORM"), as well as a litany of man-made chemicals, including perfluorinated chemicals
  • Litigating water contamination and mass chemical exposure cases
  • Litigating claims relating to the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act, the Endangered Species Act, and other claims related to evaluating the health and impact of external influences on the environment
