Whistleblower Lawsuit Dismissed with Prejudice

Spilman defended our client, a rail services organization, in a whistleblower lawsuit filed against it by a former employee in Florida. Our client held firm that it did not want to pay the Plaintiff anything for what it thought were baseless claims. We engaged in written and document discovery, culminating in the Plaintiff's deposition. An hour into day two of Plaintiff's deposition, the Plaintiff's attorney asked to take a break, then immediately called us and accepted our counteroffer -- that our client would not seek fees or costs if Plaintiff dismissed his claims with prejudice. The client was very happy.
