Spilman Mourns the Loss of a Leader

October 19, 2011

Charleston, W.Va. — It is with deep sorrow that the management team of Spilman Thomas & Battle, PLLC announces the sudden passing of a longstanding leader within the firm, T. Randolph “Randy” Cox. Randy passed away on October 19th while engaged in a sporting event.

Randy joined the firm in 1983 and thereafter became a Member of Spilman. His law practice was focused upon government relations and insurance regulatory matters, as well as environmental, telecommunications and corporate law.

Randy was a faithful and energetic community service volunteer. He served in leadership roles with a number of local charitable, civic and philanthropic organizations, most notably including the Charleston YMCA (former chairman of the board), Greater Kanawha Valley Foundation (former chairman of the board) and the West Virginia Chamber of Commerce (former chairman, government relations committee, board of directors).

He is survived by his wife, Ann Bradley, who is also a Member of the firm, and his two grown children, Erin and Thomas. The thoughts of the firm’s members and employees will undoubtedly be with Randy’s family in the coming days.
