Spilman Member Honored as Fellow of The College of Labor and Employment Lawyers

Charleston, W.Va. — The law firm Spilman Thomas & Battle announced today that Charles L. Woody was recently named a Fellow of The College of Labor and Employment Lawyers. Election as such represents recognition from colleagues that the Fellow is an outstanding professional who has made a sustained contribution to the field of labor and employment law.

The College of Labor and Employment Lawyers was established in 1995 to emphasize that the legal profession is uniquely important to the world of labor and employment law, individual rights, collective bargaining and dispute resolution. Woody is a member in Spilman’s Charleston, W.Va. office. He helped to create and shape the firm’s labor and employment practice group, which is now nationally recognized by U.S. News and World Report / Best Lawyers® and is a Fortune 500® "Go-To" practice.

Woody has decades of experience in labor and employment law, representing corporate clients such as medical providers, retailers, and oil and gas companies. He also devotes a significant amount of his practice to litigation and appellate work. He is admitted to practice in West Virginia, Pennsylvania and Florida.

Woody is a Fellow with the American Bar Association. He received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Virginia in 1969 and his law degree from Florida State University in 1972.
