Spilman Elects Three New Members

Charleston, W.Va. — Spilman Thomas & Battle (Spilman) announced that Christopher M. Green, Mitchell J. Rhein and Alexander L. Turner were elected as Members of the law firm effective January 1, 2021.

Green is based in Spilman's Charleston, West Virginia office. His primary area of practice is litigation with an emphasis on federal black lung. He has extensive experience defending employers at all levels of litigation related to federal black lung claims and defending employers in appellate proceedings before the Benefits Review Board and the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit.

Rhein also is based in the firm's Charleston office. He represents employers and executives in labor and employment matters. He represents employers and their executives in employment-related claims and advises on traditional labor matters, including representing employers before the National Labor Relations Board and during union organizing efforts and elections. He also provides advice regarding internal and external investigations on wage and hour issues and allegations of harassment and discrimination.

Turner is based in Spilman's Winston-Salem, North Carolina office, but actively practices in West Virginia and Virginia in addition to North Carolina. His primary area of practice is complex civil litigation, including class action litigation, mass tort litigation, and business litigation. He serves as the Co-Chair of Spilman's Nursing Home Practice Group and is a member of the Construction, Trucking, Consumer Finance, Technology, Products Liability, and General Litigation practice groups.
