Practice Group Roster

The immigration practice group at Spilman recognizes the growth of the global marketplace and the need to attract and retain top-notch workers, regardless of nationality. Spilman provides a robust immigration practice throughout the region to ensure that companies have the workers they need to remain competitive in a variety of industries – including health care, higher education, manufacturing, business, and agriculture. Spilman also assists companies with worksite compliance issues, from training to audits.

Immigrant and Nonimmigrant Visas

Our business immigration practice group works with employers to assess their individual hiring needs and aids them in attracting, employing, and training temporary foreign workers. We provide advice about and assistance in obtaining nonimmigrant visas including the following:
  • Visas for visitors, individuals in specialty occupations, intercompany transferees, aliens of extraordinary ability, sports, entertainment, and religious workers
  • J-1 waivers for physicians
  • Agricultural and nonagricultural workers
  • Student visas
  • Treaty visas
Our immigration attorneys also provide clients with counsel and assistance for employees seeking to become permanent, lawful residents of the United States. We guide employers through the complexities of obtaining permanent residence.
Spilman attorneys provide leading-edge representation of clients before United States Citizen and Immigration Services, the Department of Labor, and the Department of State in obtaining immigrant and nonimmigrant visas.

Worksite Compliance

In addition to our visa services, we help companies comply with various immigration-related laws, including representation during audits and investigations by Immigration and Customs Enforcement and the Department of Labor, due diligence investigations as part of corporate transactions, and guidance on I-9 record-keeping issues.  We also provide training to human resources and other staff responsible for completing I-9 forms.

Spilman attorneys provide representation for clients in administrative and judicial forums with respect to appeals of agency decisions, claims of immigration-related unfair employment practices, and other litigation issues.
Spilman’s immigration practice group can assist employers with all of their immigration needs and will help each client build and retain the workforce it needs to be successful.
