Community Banking
Spilman recognizes that in today’s economic environment, community banks are in need of counsel from those who understand and appreciate the industry. In response, Spilman created the Community Banking Group by bringing together an insightful and experienced team of attorneys from a cross-section of its practice groups. The Community Banking Group’s goal is to collaborate with its clients to provide the experience and knowledge needed for it to more confidently and calmly move forward in these tumultuous times.
Our Community Banking Group differs from the traditional Banking and Finance Group by its comprehensive approach and breadth of practice areas. We want our clients to see us as their in-house legal team or an extension of their existing legal department. We pride ourselves on providing the prompt and knowledgeable assistance that a large legal department can present. Therefore, we offer community banks the convenience of a knowledgeable and comprehensive industry practice group that can address most of their needs. Our approach and experience allow us to provide responsive service at an exceptional value to each of our community banking clients.
We aim to forge a productive and mutually beneficial relationship with each community banking client. As evidence of our commitment and viewpoint, our community banking clients can rely on industry-focused newsletters and seminars to keep them up-to-date on relevant issues and events. In addition to the traditional Banking and Finance services, we advise our community banking clients in the areas of mergers and acquisitions, tax, wealth management (trusts and estates), labor and employment, regulatory, securities, construction, white collar/compliance, corporate, and creditors’ rights and bankruptcy – all from the community banking viewpoint. Spilman takes great pride in its Community Banking Group and the excellent and effective services that it renders to community banks throughout our region.
