Representative Experience

  • Recently served as general counsel and Director of Legal Division for the West Virginia Offices of the Insurance Commissioner
  • Advised Insurance Commissioner and Division Directors on various legal and regulatory matters
  • Provided information to members of the Legislature and committee counsel during regular sessions and interim committee meetings relating to insurance and workers’ compensation system issues and in support of the Insurance Commissioner’s legislative agenda
  • Provided guidance and support on public policy issues for staff attorneys working directly with third party administrators and defense counsel on state legacy claims in the Workers’ Compensation Old Fund
  • Supported, through research, bill drafting and Legislative contact, Insurance Commissioner’s legislative agenda relating to workers’ compensation statutes following transfer of regulation of workers’ compensation system to the Insurance Commissioner
  • Drafted administrative rules and shepherded them through the legislative rule process
