Crockett, M. Katherine
Ms. Crockett's practice encompasses all aspects of
environmental
law, and includes consulting with clients regarding compliance issues and defending them in administrative appeals and civil litigation. As a member of Spilman's Environmental Practice Group, she represents a wide variety of regulated entities, including coal operators, oil and gas producers, industrial facilities, and municipalities.
Representative Experience
- Assists in general litigation matters, including research, pretrial pleadings and discovery
- Represents clients in administrative appeals before the West Virginia Environmental Quality Board
- Defends clients in administrative and civil enforcement actions brought by the West Virginia Department of Environmental Protection
- Represents clients in environmental litigation matters in state and federal court
- Provides advice to clients in environmental compliance matters under state and federal laws and regulations, including regulatory programs for water, air and hazardous and solid waste
- Assists clients in drafting legislation and developing lobbying strategy
- Assists clients in preparing comments on proposed state and federal rules and regulations
- Investigates and advises clients regarding environmental aspects of due diligence investigations related to commercial and real estate transactions
